Meet The Breeder

I have kept and trained my dogs all my life. Our first dogs were family pets that came from the local rescue and it was with these dogs I became interested in dog training and started competed in local obedience shows with a rescued terrier cross named Toby.

In 1977 I gained my first pedigree dog, which was a black Afghan called Sacha and my interest in showing dogs begun. I have had great fun in training my afghans in obedience

as well as showing. They competed in local obedience shows and trained them to gain their Bronze and Silver Good Citizens Awards. I also successfully showed my Afghans at Champion show level and qualified and was placed at Crufts.

As my interest in dog training and showing grew and I decided to

look for a more dual purpose dog which would be able to combine obedience training and showing and allow me to take my love of showing and dog training to higher level. After some time looking at the different breeds, I decided that the Hungarian Puli was the breed for me.

All my afghans after Sacha – who was a rescue afghan, were bred by the late Avril Lacey and her partner Stan Szycezewski.  They had the famous Weetoneon Kennel and was the home of their well-known Hungarian Pulis. Avril and I had become good friends and over the years Avril has supported and guided me in showing my Pulis. Avril passed on her knowledge and understanding of the breed and her philosophy in her breeding programmes, which I have found invaluable and escalated my love for the breed. She also embedded in me the importance of supporting people with their pulis no matter if they were for pets or to show.

I bought my first puli Weetoneon the Maverick (Thomas to his friends) from Avril in 1990 and was very successful in the show ring. At the time the puli was not as well known as it is today our are and Thomas became a great ambassador of the breed, helping to promote pulis in a very positive way. He showed the dual-purpose attributes of the puli by being successful at obedience, in the show ring and as a Pets as Therapy dog, and went into day centres and old peoples home giving much pleasure to those he met.

My next puli became the very well-known puli Ch. Weetoneon Jack the Lad (Bert to his friends). He also combined obedience with a very successful showing career and become the foundation stud dog to my the Montydom line along with my foundation bitch Ch Weetoneon Calendar Girl. Blossom was a great show girl who oozed personality.

I was invited by Avril & Stan to become a registered interested party on the Weetoneon Affix and together we campaigned many Weetoneon dogs to their Championship status. Avril and Stan lived in France for approx. 10 years where they had many successes in the show ring. I supported Avril’s breeding in the UK and Avril & Stan continued the breeding programme in France until she passed away in 2016. After Avril’s death I decided to take the knowledge I had gained and set my own Affix and in 2018 the Montydom Affix was born.
